Good bye! Times are changing. About year and a half ago it was a beautiful time, when we've discovered how to edit TR4 engine. Every new option we've found, every new feature we've implemented — everything was so fascinating in these days, but now it's not anymore. Year ago everyone was begging for new TREP features and shouted about it at any corner. Now everyone is begging for new NGLE versions. So, that is the choice of this community, and i completely understand it. I see that NGLE and Tomb4 NG will completely kill off any of my further developments, no matter how i try, so i don't see any reason to continue development of custom patches, new script parameters and new FURR commands. I was never into programming, so everything that i've done in the past was a path of rookie. Now i'm stepping out of the way of the professionals and won't interfere with their achievements anymore. I know that a lot of people despise TREP and a lot of people despise personally me for popping out of nowhere and doing things that were already planned for other projects. I know that a lot of people hate TREP because it's too difficult to understand. Thanks. You can hate it even more now. The thing is, TR community can ignore someone's achievements for a long time. Almost no one in this community is using DXTre3D, and i still don't understand why. Perhaps, people are really into old and outdated programs. A lot of resources were put into so-called «unofficial» level editing, but almost no one is really appreciating it. Someone even called DXTre3D forgotten in Wikipedia. Depsite this fact, i don't want to do anything more with TR4 engine. It's really fun to play some custom levels, but it's no more fun in editing engine — when you know that everything you doing will be done better by others. Still, i really hope that the future of TR level editing lies in FexEngine and at least some of you won't be so blind anymore and will finally appreciate it. |
